How to Set Shopify Shipping Rates
Checkout cannot finish until the customer can see a shipping rate for their address.
- Where
- Settings, then Shipping and delivery
- Zone
- The countries or regions you ship to
- Rate
- Flat, free, or calculated when a carrier is connected
- Pakistan
- Price the rate from your test order
- Checkout
- A rate and a payment method
The zone
A shipping zone is the list of places a rate applies to. Shopify’s shipping rates guide has you create the zone, then add one or more rates inside it. A customer whose address is outside every zone sees no way to finish checkout.
If you sell to addresses in Pakistan, Pakistan has to be inside a zone you created. The store setup that expects this rate is How to Create a Shopify Store.
The rate
A flat rate is one price for that zone. Free shipping is a rate whose price is zero. A calculated rate needs a carrier account Shopify can price from, and that option appears only when the carrier is available for the store.
The rate is what the customer pays you for shipping. It can be zero only when the product price already covers the supplier’s shipping. That split is in How to Fulfill a Shopify Dropshipping Order.
The name on the rate
Name the rate with words the customer understands, such as Standard delivery. Put the measured number of days in the product description, after a parcel has arrived at a Pakistan address.
Shopify’s United States shipping examples are about the United States. They are a poor promise for Lahore, Karachi, or Peshawar.
Check it at checkout
Place a test order to an address inside the zone. The rate should appear before payment. If the address is in the zone and the rate is missing, the zone’s countries or the rate’s conditions are wrong.
The payment method beside that rate is covered in Shopify Payments in Pakistan.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I add Shopify shipping rates?
Settings, then Shipping and delivery. Create a zone for the places you ship, then add a rate inside that zone.
Can I offer free shipping on Shopify?
Yes. Add a rate with a price of zero. Do that when the product price already covers what the supplier charges you to ship.
Why does checkout say there are no shipping rates?
The customer’s address is outside every shipping zone, or the zone has no rate. Add the country and a rate, then test that address again.
Should I copy a United States delivery time?
Use the number of days your own test order took to a Pakistan address. A coast-to-coast example from Shopify’s help is about the United States.
Does the TechnoSpike shop use these Shopify rates?
The shop on techno-spike.com is a separate checkout. Paid orders there have free delivery. A Shopify store uses the rate you entered.
One zone, one rate, one test address
Ship a parcel to yourself, then put that cost and that number of days where the customer can see them.
