How to create a Shopify store
These eight steps are the order that gets a store open. Do them once, in this order. Skip a payment method or a shipping rate and checkout cannot finish. Skip the password removal and customers still cannot see the store.
-
Create the Shopify account
Open shopify.com and start a store with an email you can reach. Shopify asks what you sell and whether you are already selling. Answer those questions. You land in the admin. The store is not public yet. Shopify keeps a password on the storefront until you remove it.
-
Name the store
In Settings, set the store name customers will see. The temporary address ends in myshopify.com. That address works while you build. A domain you own comes later, in Settings, then Domains.
-
Start with Dawn
Open Online Store, then Themes. Use Dawn, the free Online Store 2.0 theme. Add your logo, colors, and a short homepage line. Preview it on a phone. Buy a paid theme only after the products and the checkout path exist.
-
Add a product and a collection
Open Products, then Add product. Write the title, the description, and the price. Add photos. Use a compare-at price only when that higher price was real. Save, then add a collection so the product has a grid. One real product is enough to test the store.
-
Turn on payments and shipping
Open Settings, then Payments, and enable the methods Shopify shows for your country. Open Shipping and delivery and add a rate for the places you ship. Checkout cannot finish without a way to pay and a way to ship. Place a test order.
-
Write the policies and the pages
Add a refund policy, a privacy policy, terms of service, and a shipping policy. Add an About page and a Contact page, and put them in the menu. Shoppers look for these before they pay.
-
Connect a domain
In Settings, then Domains, buy a domain through Shopify or connect one you already own. Until the domain is connected, the myshopify.com address is the live address. Check that the homepage, a product, and checkout open on the domain.
-
Remove the password
When the test order works, remove the storefront password. The store is then open. Keep the admin login private. Watch Lecture 1 again if a screen did not match, then continue the playlist for the next lessons.
Shopify’s plan price depends on the plan and the country. This page does not quote a price, because that number changes. Create the store on the trial, finish the eight steps, and choose the plan on Shopify’s own pricing page when you are ready to pay.
After the store is open
A live store still needs a reason for a product card to be opened. A short label such as Sale, New, or BOGO does that job. Product Label Pro is the Shopify app for a badge you type yourself. It is free, $2 a month, or $4.99 a month, with one theme embed and no theme code. The guides are:

Frequently asked questions
How do I create a Shopify store step by step?
Create a Shopify account, name the store, start with the free Dawn theme, add a product and a collection, turn on payments and shipping for your country, write the store policies, connect a domain, then remove the storefront password. Lecture 1 of the TechnoSpike complete Shopify course, How to Setup a Store, shows the setup on screen. The rest of the playlist continues the course.
Where is the Shopify store video tutorial?
The tutorial on this page is Lecture 1, How to Setup a Store | Online Shopify Store | Full Course. It is on the TechnoSpike channel and was published on 7 May 2026. The full playlist is Complete Shopify Full Course – First Time in Pakistan! Watch Lecture 1 with these steps, then continue through the playlist.
Do I need to code to create a Shopify store?
No. The steps on this page use the Shopify admin and a theme. Dawn is a free Online Store 2.0 theme, so you can launch without editing Liquid. Add a product, set a price, and turn the theme on. Code comes later, only if you want a custom section or an app of your own.
Which theme should a new Shopify store use?
Start with Dawn, the free theme Shopify includes. Set the logo, colors, and homepage, add your products, and preview the store on a phone before you buy a paid theme. A paid theme does not replace a product, a payment method, or a shipping rate.
How do I take payment on a new Shopify store?
Open Settings, then Payments, and turn on the methods Shopify offers for your country. Then open Shipping and delivery and add a rate so checkout can finish. If a card method is not offered where you sell, use the manual payment option and tell the customer how you will collect the money. Place a test order before you remove the storefront password.
What should I add after the Shopify store is open?
Add the products you actually sell, a collection, an About page, and a Contact page. When a product needs Sale, New, or BOGO on the photo, install Product Label Pro. The TechnoSpike guides cover product labels for Shopify, the best product label app, the cheapest and easiest app, and the Shopify apps for product labels.
Open the store, then watch the next lesson
The step-by-step path is the account, Dawn, one product, payments, shipping, policies, a domain, and the password removed. Lecture 1 shows the setup. The playlist is the rest of the course.
