A collection is the page that lists a group of products. The homepage and the menu point at it.

Manual collections
A manual collection stays empty until you add products. Shopify’s collections guide is the reference. Use a manual collection for a small set you want to feature, such as the first five items in the store.
The order can be manual too. Drag the product you want at the top.
Automated collections
An automated collection uses conditions. A condition on product type, vendor, or tag fills the grid without a second edit. Add the tag on the product and the collection updates.
All conditions means every rule must match. Any condition means one rule is enough. Pick the one that matches how you tag products.
Title and description
The collection title is the page heading. The description sits under it and can be the search snippet. Writing a specific title is the same job as Shopify Product SEO, applied to the group.
An empty collection looks like a broken page. Add products before you link the menu.
