Shopify Customer Accounts
A customer account is a login for orders. It is optional unless you turn the requirement on.

The three choices
Shopify’s customer account page covers classic accounts and the newer customer accounts. The practical choice for a first store is optional: the buyer can check out as a guest.
Required accounts add a password step before payment. That step loses people who only wanted to pay once. Turn it on when the product itself needs a login, such as a membership.
What the customer sees later
A customer with an account can open past orders and the address they used. That saves you from resending the same tracking number by hand.
The email that confirms the order is separate. Edit it under notifications, as Shopify Order Emails describes.
Guest checkout
Guest checkout still creates a customer record in the admin when they enter an email. You can see the order. They do not have to remember a password.
Checkout still needs a payment method and a shipping rate. Those are in Shopify Payments in Pakistan and shipping rates.
Try both paths
Place one order as a guest and one after creating an account, in a private window. Confirm the account order shows under that login.
If the login email never arrives, check spam and the sender address in notifications.
Frequently asked questions
Should Shopify customer accounts be required?
For a new store, leave them optional. A guest can pay, and a returning customer can still create an account.

In the checkout settings for customer accounts. Shopify offers optional, required, or disabled.
Does guest checkout save the customer?
The order is in your admin with the email they typed. They simply do not have a password yet.
Can a customer see tracking in their account?
They can see the order. Tracking appears when you add it during fulfillment and the shipping email is sent.
Is this the storefront password?
No. The storefront password hides the whole shop while you build. Customer accounts are logins for buyers.

Leave accounts optional, buy once as a guest, and confirm the order is in the admin.
