Shopify’s checks
Shopify’s supplier article lists signs of a legitimate supplier. Most are paid when you order a product. Shopify says some suppliers who ask for a monthly fee are unlikely to be legitimate. A supplier directory is a separate business: it lists many suppliers, and most directories charge a fee to use the list.
The same page says most legitimate suppliers do not sell to the general public. Outside the App Store they often ask you to apply, show that you are a business, and wait for approval. A company that sells to the public and also offers a wholesale price is, in Shopify’s words, likely another dropshipping business selling at inflated rates.
A fee on each order is normal. Shopify also notes that some suppliers set a minimum order value. Ask the supplier before you promise that minimum to yourself.
Where a supplier is found
Inside Shopify, the help page describes two app types. A print-on-demand app prints and ships an item, such as a shirt or a mug, when the order is placed. A supplier marketplace app is a directory you browse, then add products from. Both live on the Shopify App Store. A supplier found there usually does not ask for business documents.
Outside the App Store, Shopify says most suppliers want legal proof of business. The help page names three directories: Worldwide Brands, SaleHoo, and Doba. It also says a directory membership is optional when you already know who will ship the product. A trade show is the other route Shopify mentions, because you can look at the product in person.
The test order
Shopify’s list of a good supplier includes real-time inventory, an online catalog, order history, a person you can contact, and a way to send the order by email or through an app. The page says you only learn the packing and the speed by ordering.
Place a few orders to an address you can open. Write down how the supplier accepts the order, how soon tracking arrives, how the parcel is packed, and how fast they reply. Keep a supplier who is clear on those four. Leave one who is not.
Shopify’s shipping-time example on that page is about the United States, from one coast to the other. Use your Pakistan test order for a Pakistan promise. The fulfillment steps are How to Fulfill a Shopify Dropshipping Order.
Start with one supplier
Shopify’s guide to choosing products says a single supplier keeps shipping costs easier to predict and the rate you charge closer to the real one. List a small set, with photos of the actual product, and variants for the options the supplier really ships. Add the next supplier after the first orders are dull and reliable.
The store around the supplier is How to Start Shopify in Pakistan. The model is Shopify Dropshipping in Pakistan.
Frequently asked questions

Do I need a supplier directory?
Shopify’s help page says a directory membership can help and is not required if you already know the supplier. The page names Worldwide Brands, SaleHoo, and Doba as directories.
What is the difference between an app supplier and a supplier outside Shopify?
Shopify says a supplier found through the Shopify App Store usually does not ask for business documents. A supplier outside the App Store usually asks for legal proof of business before you can apply.
Should one store use many suppliers on day one?
Shopify’s product guide says choosing products from a single supplier keeps shipping simpler and the rate you charge closer to the real cost. Add another supplier after the first test order is clear.
What if a supplier asks for a monthly fee?
Shopify says most legitimate suppliers are paid when you order, and that some suppliers who ask for a monthly fee are unlikely to be legitimate. A directory that lists many suppliers is a different case and may charge a fee.
Check the supplier, then list the product
Read Shopify’s supplier page, place a test order, and keep the supplier who sends tracking and a parcel you would hand to a customer.
